SRAM routed the cable directly into the X.0 Derailleurs actuation mechanism to ensure precise and quick shifting without excess friction or weight. The X.0s shifting pawl is always engaged for Zero Loss Travel, and 1:1 Actuation moves the derailleur one gear for every unit of cable pulled or released. The result? We hate to sound like cynics, but staring down at your cassette and praying for just one more miracle gear in the midst of a nausea-inducing climb will likely always be a part of cycling. You’ll just have to use those legs. And whether you’re running SRAM one-by or still sticking to double, the cassette will work with any non-XD Shimano/SRAM freehub.

You’ll notice that the SRAM X01 X-Glide Cassette has a dark, matte finish not typically seen on drivetrain parts, and definitely not seen on the XX1 cassette. SRAM calls it JET Black, and it provides greater corrosion resistance across both the steel and aluminum cogs that make up the monster 10-42-tooth cassette.
